You might also consider sending checks or money orders through King Express, a Guatemalan company which hand-delivers the checks to the Street School's office and requires a signature from a Street School staff member. Call King Express in San Francisco at (415)255-4643 or in New York City at (718)898-9800. It costs $15 for every $1000 or less you send.
King Express is the most secure way to send money and you'll get a signed receipt from the person at the Street School who received the check.
Cashier's checks are ideal: they
clear in a few days, are insured in case of loss and usually cost only
$3.
Personal checks are accepted at Guatemalan banks but take 4-6 weeks to
clear.
Please make checks payable to "Escuela de la Calle".
Please keep your receipt in case your cashier's check is lost
in the mail.
